About the trip

Guwahati is situated on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River in the Kamrup district of Assam. Guwahati, once called Pragjyotishpur ("The City of the Eastern Light"), is a fast-growing urban center and gateway to northeast India. Its name comes from Assamese words "Guwa" (beetlenut) and "Hat" (market).and Shillong, known as the "Scotland of the East." Meghalaya, formed on 21 January 1972 from Assam, has a population of about 3.2 million and an area of 22,429 square kilometers. The state, with its matrilineal system, is the wettest in India, rich in biodiversity and agriculture. Meghalaya's economy is primarily agrarian, with significant forestry, and it serves as a trade hub with Bangladesh.
